Courses


A total of 21 credits are required to complete the criminal justice minor. To complete the CJ minor, students are required to complete the following courses:

CJ 110: Introduction to the Criminal Justice Process (or CJ 103 with permission of the Chair of the Criminal Justice Department)

CJ 212: Management of Criminal Justice Organizations (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 103 or CJ 110, CJ 270 and departmental consent. –OR– PA 221: Introduction to Public Administration

CJ 218: Adjudication Process in Criminal Justice (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 103 or CJ 110, CJ 270 and departmental consent.

CJ 270: Introduction to Criminal Law (3 credits); Prerequisites: departmental consent.

CJ 244: Correctional Process (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 103 or CJ 110, CJ 270 and departmental consent.

CJ 288: Police in Modern Society (3 credits); Prerequisites: CJ 103 or CJ 110, CJ 270 and departmental consent.

One Upper Level CJ Course: CJ minors* should choose from the following to complete the minor (3 credits): CJ 304, CJ 319, CJ 328, CJ 331, CJ 332, CJ 333, CJ 340, CJ 341, CJ 346, CJ 347, CJ 348, CJ 351, CJ 352, CJ 353 or CJ 375.

* Due to the fact that CJ 343 must be taken in conjunction with CJ 281, it is not recommended that CJ minors enroll in CJ 343 to complete the additional upper-level CJ requirement necessary to complete the minor.  This would increase the number of credits required to complete the minor from 21 credits to 24 credits.  Additionally, CJ 358 is the senior seminar capstone course and is typically reserved for CJ majors and is not recommended for CJ minors.
